Listing Location
San Juan, San Juan, Puerto RicoI've been a witness since 1969. Busy with caregiving for over 20 years but now only part-time.
Now that my husband Randy has retired from secular work, we are settled in PR, where he serves as an elder in the congregation. We are working on our home here to open it up to our traveling/visiting/vacationing friends.
Seafood is my favorite food. I like jazz and classical music, and Latin beats are in my blood.
I love that our house accommodates single, married, or family groups. Or a whole group of need greater LDC workers/volunteers or just a fun vacation group.
I was hosting a BnB host until Hurricane Maria hit, and then it became very difficult to start up again since we had to rebuild the upstairs... just now, we put a new roof on the second floor. Here we are starting again!
Looking forward to welcoming you, your friends, and family with open arms and lots of love!

The Space
The entire downstairs has four bedrooms of various sizes, but each can accommodate at least 2 per bedroom. We are changing all the window units to mini-splits, so bear with us. A/C units still work.
The kitchen is extra large with lots of cabinets and appliances, dishes, silverware, pots, and pans, etc.....… the basics for family and friends togetherness.
Bathrooms, as well as Kitchen, are supplied with hot/cold water.
We will let you know when someone will be in your space, if ever. (Emergencies, maintenance, assistant).
Guest Access
You have access to the entire first floor. (the second floor too if the entire house has been rented to you). The front porch has seating for hanging out. And the back yard will soon be an added space to escape to.
The Neighborhood
This is a close-knit street. The fact that we are on a dead-end street has us all aware of who the permanent neighbors are, and they look out for us, and we do for them. So even though you may not be aware, others know you are here. We have owned this property since 1995, so we know the neighbors! And they are aware that we have opened our home to visitors from all over the world.
Our neighborhood is pretty typical of any other inner city neighborhood, except we have the convenience of transport to hospitals and universities, colleges and other private schools, gyms, shopping centers, supermarkets, health food stores, and the like, all within minutes from our location.
We're close to San Patricio Mall and Plaza Las Americas Mall, among other shopping venues. During the day, it's busy because we are in the midst of medical offices, labs, and a few hospitals, but it is very quiet after business hours. But isn't that what you need when you come home to rest after a busy day?... Or if you are in Puerto Rico for medical care, our place is a good choice!
We are on a dead-end street, which ends at the private paid parking lot of the Metropolitano Hospital.
There's a 3-story medical building where you enter our street, past the Marcano's Pizza place.
We have street parking for free right in front of the house.
When you get up in the morning, you'll find the traffic is busy due to all the doctors and medical clinics around...not to mention the Hospital. Parking in the morning is a bit crazy because no one wants to pay for parking garages.
We are a short dead-end street, but just around the corner, you have eateries, a convenience store at the Gas station right across the Train Station, a couple of drug stores (which also have basic foods if you're in a crunch for staples), BBQ joints, Restaurants, and nice friendly neighbors Our family has been in this location since 1995 so we know most of them and they know us.
I wish I could say we have a fantastic view of something, but we don't. Like many neighbors and small neighborhoods around PR, it has taken a long time to reestablish ourselves and our homes; therefore, aside from the tourist areas that have been infused with money...those of us not in the touristy areas have not been as "pretty," but we are hospitable and do our best to make you feel welcomed and at home.
Getting Around
I recommend a car rental. The most significant convenience is having the Urban Train just one block away! It connects you to local stops in 5 main municipalities in the Metro area. Of course, if you rent a car and want to go far and wide, we have Hwy 52, 18, RTE 1, 2, 21, 20, 19, and 22 accessible in a 1-2 mile radius!
Just check your GPS and you'll be surprised how close you are to the rest of the Island!
If a car rental is not an option... really, to get to the best touristy areas, you may enjoy the convenience and affordability of an Uber taxi!
House Rules
This applies to International travelers...
Please be aware ... we need to feel safe as well as you do during this pandemic, therefore:
“In the interest of the health and safety of all my guests, I’m asking everyone to answer the following questions before they book:
In the last two weeks, have you or anyone you live with traveled to any areas that COVID-19 has impacted?
Have you been diagnosed with, or suspect that you have contracted, COVID-19?
Do you currently have any travel restrictions in your area due to COVID-19?”
